Many Internet users with disabilities find web sites difficult or even impossible to use simply because of the way they are designed. Onetel is working hard to provide a website that is totally accessible.

Browser Settings

Not all browsers allow you to make changes to the way you view the page, but here are some tips for some simple changes you may be able to make.

Font type and size

For improved visibility you may be able to increase (or decrease) the size of text and alter the choice of font.

Internet Explorer users

  1. Open your 'Internet Options' window by going to 'View' (or 'Tools' if you have it) and scrolling down.
  2. Choose 'Fonts' and select your preferred style, alphabet and size, then click 'OK'.
  3. Go to 'Accessibility' within 'Internet Options' and click on 'Ignore font styles/font sizes specified on Web pages.'
  4. When you click 'OK', this should ensure that the page you are viewing now appears with your specifications.

Netscape users

  1. To increase font size, go to 'View' and then choose 'Increase Font' as many times as you find necessary for the size you want.
  2. To change the type of font, go to 'Preferences', 'Appearance', 'Fonts' and choose 'Use my default fonts, overriding document-specified fonts'. This will ensure that the set fonts are ignored by your browser.

Colour of text and background

You may require specific colours in order to be able to view the site easily.

Internet Explorer Users

  1. Go to 'Internet Options' (as above) and choose 'Colors'.
  2. You can change text and background page colour as well as the colour in which links appear, then click 'OK'.
  3. Choose 'Accessibility' from within 'Internet Options' and click on 'Ignore colors specified on Web pages'.
  4. When you click 'OK', this should ensure that the page you are viewing now appears with your specifications.

Netscape Users

  1. Go to 'Preferences', 'Appearance', 'Colors' and choose 'Always use my colors, overriding document', then specify your colours.

Hard of hearing

If you are hard of hearing or speech impaired you can contact us using a text phone by typing your enquiry or conversation to: 0845 818 0505

  • Monday - Friday: 8.00am to 8.00pm
  • Saturday & Sunday: 9.00am-5.00pm

You must have a text phone to access any of these numbers. This is a piece of equipment that allows deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired to communicate over the telephone. A text phone has a small keyboard and screen to allow users to type and read what they want to say to each other.

Visually impaired

We are able to provide our written documents in an alternative format such as Large print, Braille or Audio tape. Please call our customer service centre to let us know if you would like to receive bills, terms and conditions, our One.Guide or any other information in one of these formats.

Online Services

If you are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech impediment you may find that receiving your Onetel bill online could assist you. All online bills have been designed within W3C guidelines and are available through My Account.

By changing your text/font size of your Internet settings or installing your screen reader, you can easily manage your account online.

E-mail us

Our e-mail team is fully trained to deal with any customer service enquiries via e-mail. You might find this useful if you prefer silent communication or if you find accessing the telephone difficult.
