How do I get my voice mailbox number?

Press *#104# and press SEND. This will bring up the voicemail number on the screen. If you want to use the phone abroad, make sure that you change the change the front part of the number to +44 and omit the zero - e.g. +44.

Do I get voicemail?

All Onetel customers have access to the Vodafone voicemail service. We automatically activate your voicemail when you activate your SIM. The voicemail system is menu based and will explain what to do. To access your voicemail simply dial 121 from your mobile and follow the prompts.

How do I access my messages?

To retrieve your messages at any time, dial 121 followed by SEND. While you are listening to your messages, you can choose the following options by pressing the appropriate number:

  1. Return to main menu
  2. Repeat message
  3. Delete message
  4. Go to previous message
  5. Give caller's number
  6. Go to next message
  7. Save message for 7 days
  8. Give time and date of message
  9. Help

Press 0 once to pause and press again to continue

Calls will be diverted to voicemail if:

  • Your phone is switched off
  • You are outside network coverage
  • You are already engaged on another call
  • The network is busy
  • You have scheduled the Divert Immediate option

To set Divert Immediate so that calls go to voicemail if you are engaged, your handset is switched off or you are unable to answer your mobile, dial 1211 SEND.

How long are messages stored?

Once you have listened to a message, it will remain in your voicemail mailbox for 36 hours. If you wish to keep messages for longer, you can use the 'Save' option to keep it for 7 days. Messages you have not retrieved are kept for 21 days. If you do not wish to keep a message, you may delete it during playback. To save a message whilst you are listening to it, press 7. To delete the message, press 3.

How do I save a personal greeting?

A standard pre-recorded message will greet your callers and confirm your phone number, but you may choose to replace this with a personalised greeting. Personalising your greeting makes your callers much more likely to leave a message.An example of what to say would be:

"This is the voicemail service for (your name). I am not able to take your call but please leave a message."

To record a new greeting:

  1. Dial 121 followed by SEND
  2. Press 1 for the main menu
  3. Dial 33
  4. Follow the voice prompts
  5. When you have finished recording your message, press # to save it.

How do I protect my messages?

Your voicemail mailbox is protected from unwanted access by a security code (PIN). Two levels of security are available and they are as follows:

Complete

You will be asked to enter your PIN at all times, whether you are accessing your voicemail from your Onetel handset or from another phone.

Standard

You will be asked to enter your PIN only if you are accessing your voicemail from another phone or if you are calling from abroad.

To change your security settings:

  1. Dial 121 followed by SEND
  2. Press 1 for the main menu
  3. Dial 42 to access the security settings
  4. Press 2 to set your security code
  5. Select Complete Security (Dial 32) or select Standard Security (Dial 33).

Can I retrieve my voicemail from another phone?

To listen to your voicemail messages from another phone, simply do the following:

  1. Dial your Onetel number then interrupt your greeting by pressing 9
  2. You will hear a message asking you for your security code
  3. Enter your security code and you will able to listen to your messages

Please note: You will not be able to access your voicemail in this way until you have changed your PIN from its default setting. Follow these steps to change your security settings:

  1. Dial 121 followed by SEND
  2. Press 1 for the main menu
  3. Dial 42 to access the security settings
  4. Press 2 to set your security code

What alert options are available?

There are three ways voicemail can alert you that you have a new message:

Text message

The phone beeps and an envelope icon is displayed (applies to most phones). A text message tells you how many new messages you have, and to dial 121 followed by SEND to pick them up. This is useful for times when you do not wish to be disturbed by your phone ringing.

Voice alert and deliver message

This is the default. Voicemail will call you when you have a new message. A recorded voice will tell you how many messages are waiting and then play them back to you.

Voice alert

Voicemail will call you. A recorded voice will tell you that you have new messages and to dial 121 followed by SEND to pick them up. To choose how you would like to be notified of new messages, simply follow these steps:

  1. Dial 121 followed by SEND
  2. Press 1 for the main menu
  3. Press 4 to select voice alert

Can I divert calls directly to voicemail?

To divert calls directly to voicemail, you will need to enable Divert Immediate. To set-up Divert Immediate, do the following:

  • Dial 1212 followed by SEND. All incoming calls will be immediately diverted to voicemail and a message will be taken.

To cancel Divert Immediate, do the following:

  • Dial 1213 followed by SEND. The service will return to standard divert, which means calls will only be diverted to voicemail if your handset is switched off, engaged, outside network coverage or out of credit.

Using voicemail from abroad, you can dial 121 to retrieve your messages in the following countries:

  • Austria
  • Croatia
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Hong Kong
  • Hungary
  • Ireland
  • Israel
  • Italy
  • Netherlands
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Spain
  • Sweden

In any other country, you will need to do the following: When a message has been received, you will be notified by text message which will inform you that 'Voicemail has (number) new message(s)'. This is provided that both your phone and the international network you are roaming on supports text messaging. There is no charge to receive this text message.

To listen to your messages:

  1. Simply scroll down the display of your handset using the arrow keys until the 'sender number' appears at the end of the message.
  2. The sender number is your personal mailbox number.
  3. When this number appears in the window, simply press SEND.
  4. As soon as you hear the greeting, press 9. Enter your security code when prompted. (The default security code is 3333 or 9999. Ensure that you change the default code to your own personal code for improved security).
  5. Your messages will then be played back to you.

This call is charged at the same rate as an international call back to the UK. For further details of the cost of calls back to the UK, please see the roaming section. If roaming is not supported, you can dial your mobile number +44 7xxxxxxxx and interrupt the greeting by pressing 9.
