Why are you introducing a 2Mb Broadband product with a monthly download limit of up to 2GB?

We have introduced a Broadband product with a download limit of up to 2GB, to allow customers who don't use the internet very much to still have the benefit of super fast Broadband access. Customers that are regular users of the internet will still be better off on the unlimited downloads Broadband product.

What is the difference between downloading up to 2GB a month and no download limit?

The product with the download limit comes with an inclusive monthly allowance of 2GB. This figure is the amount of data that you can download or upload (data sent to and from the internet) each month. The 2Mb unlimited product gives unlimited download capacity, giving customers the flexibilty they require from the internet.

What does the 2GB usage allowance give me per month?

Below is a range of typical online activities that could be undertaken with an idea of usage for that cap level.

Surfing the Internet 4 Hours a day
Sending / receiving JPEGs via e-mail 50 JPEGs a week
Downloading music 10 tracks a week
Sending / receiving e-mails (no attachments) 400 a week
Downloading video clips 10 x 2min clips a week
Online gaming 2 hours a week
Listening to the radio 2 hours a week

What happens if I exceed my monthly usage allowance?

In the event that you exceed your 2Gb monthly allowance, we have the right to charge you 1.75 for each Gigabyte you use over the capped 2Gb limit.

How will I know if i have exceeded my monthly usage allowance?

You won't. At the end of the month we will analyse your bill, and charge you the excess amount retrospectively.

Does the monthly usage allowance apply to upstream and downstream capacity?

Yes. The usage allowance refers to the total amount of data that you send to and receive from the internet.
